Asbestos Medical Cost
The cost of an asbestos medical depends on a few practical factors. Rather than publish a single headline figure, we provide a clear quotation on enquiry so you know exactly what is included.
Why we quote rather than quote a single price
No two bookings are quite the same. An individual appointment and an on-site group booking for a whole crew are priced differently, and the right figure depends on what you actually need.
We would rather give you an accurate, transparent quotation than a headline price that turns out not to apply. Tell us about the work, the number of people and where you are in the UK, and we will set out clearly what is included across our asbestos medical services.
What affects the cost of an asbestos medical?
Type of medical
A licensed or non-licensed (NNLW) medical, and whether any additional assessment is requested.
Number of workers
Individual appointments or group bookings, groups are usually priced per person, which can change the per-head cost.
Location & delivery
Whether the examination takes place at a clinic or, for groups, potentially on-site at your premises.
Scheduling
A one-off examination or a planned surveillance programme managed across renewal dates.
How do you compare quotes fairly?
When comparing providers, look beyond the headline number to what is actually included:
- Is it the correct medical for the work (licensed vs NNLW)?
- Does the price include the certificate of medical examination?
- Are group or on-site options priced clearly, per person?
- Are there separate booking or administration fees?
A note on who pays
For employees, the duty to arrange and fund medical surveillance usually sits with the employer, and examinations should take place during working hours. Self-employed workers doing qualifying work arrange their own.
Cost FAQs
The cost depends on the type of examination, whether it is arranged individually or as a group, and where it takes place. We provide a clear quotation on enquiry rather than publishing a single fixed price, so you know exactly what is included.
For employees, the regulations place the duty to arrange and fund medical surveillance on the employer. Examinations should take place during the worker's normal working hours. Self-employed workers carrying out qualifying work are responsible for arranging their own surveillance.
Employers and contractors can arrange individual or group examinations through a corporate enquiry. Group surveillance can be planned around work schedules and renewal dates. Send the number of workers and the type of work involved and we can advise on the right type of medical.
The difference follows the type of work. Licensable work requires a medical at least every 2 years by an HSE-appointed doctor. Notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW) requires a medical at least every 3 years, which a wider group of registered doctors can perform. A licensed-work medical is accepted for non-licensed work, but not the other way around.

Costs depend on your requirements, so we provide a clear quotation on enquiry rather than a single published price.
